Bastard Jargon : un troisième album percutant, organique, au sang chaud, décapant sur de la pop étincelante. Écrit pendant plus de 18 mois entre Lisbonne, Gand, Oxfordshire et Hastings, « c’est un album existentiel sur le sexe », explique Nakhane. « Presque toutes les chansons ont une sorte de clin d’œil au sexe. Ce n’est pas forcément le sexe en mode séducteur ou avec les yeux doux - c’est un sexe beaucoup plus curieux, psychologique. Quand j’ai écrit You Will Not Die, c’était quand je me détachais du christianisme, et quand j’ai écrit Bastard Jargon, je venais à Londres et je m’abandonnais au simple désir du bien-être ». Pour réaliser cette vision sensuelle, Nakhane a recruté Nile Rodgers du groupe Chic comme producteur exécutif. Parmi les autres producteurs de Bastard Jargon il y a John Congleton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten), Leo Abrahams (Wild Beasts, Regina Spektor), Matthew Herbert, Emre Turkmen de Years and Years et Chab (ingé-son de Daft Punk, La Femme, Angèle). En featuring sur cet album : Moonchild Sanelly, Nile Rodgers (Chic), Perfume Genius, 3 D. Bastard Jargon: a pounding, physical, hot-blooded third album which sounds like grit sprayed over shiny pop. Written over 18 months in Lisbon, Ghent, Oxfordshire, London and Hastings, “It’s an existential sex album,” says the artist. “Almost every song on it has some kind of wink towards sex. It’s not necessarily a seductive, come to me, bedroom eyes kind of sex - it’s much more inquisitive, psychological sex. When I wrote ‘You Will Not Die’ it was at the end of my relationship with Christianity, and then when I wrote Bastard Jargon I’d moved to London and I threw myself into just wanting to feel good.” To realize this lustful vision, Nakhane recruited Nile Rodgers from Chic as executive producer. Other producers on ‘Bastard Jargon’ include John Congleton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten), Leo Abrahams (Wild Beasts, Brian Eno, Regina Spektor), Matthew Herbert , BLK JKS (a South African rock band), Max Hershenow (previously of MsMr), Emre Turkmen (previously of Years and Years) and Chab (sound engineer of Daft Punk, La Femme, Angèle). The album features Moonchild Sanelly, Nile Rodgers (Chic), Perfume Genius, 3 D.
